When to start Leaving Cert Maths grinds

There is no single correct week to start Leaving Cert Maths grinds. The useful test is whether the student is still stuck days after class, and whether weak topics are compounding into the next chapter.

Start when the week is already slipping

If a homework question stops them on Monday and the next grind is Saturday, they lose the week. That is the pattern 5th Year and 6th Year families describe most. Grinds that only add another hour do not fix it. Help between lessons does.

Mocks and the final exam make the same gaps visible too late. Starting in 5th Year, or in Transition Year at the level they will take, gives time to rebuild algebra before papers stack up.

Which group to join

Published Higher Level groups are split: 5th Year (Transition Year Higher welcome) and 6th Year (Repeat Higher welcome). Ordinary Level 5th and 6th Year learn together, with Transition Year and Repeat Ordinary welcome. Book a free grind and we will place you.
